Throughout the year Saint Maur International School has collected used stamps in support of RSPB to help raise urgently needed funds for the Albatross Appeal.

A message from the RSPB

The RSPB raises a significant amount through the sale of used stamps. Each year up to 100,000 albatrosses drown because of being caught on the billion baited hooks used by longline fishing boats in the southern oceans. 1721 out of the 223 species of albatross are threatened with extinction. The RSPB and Birdlife International have set up the Albatross Task Force to train people to work with fishermen at sea. They show crews simple ways to avoid catching albatrosses on their fishing lines. This work can make a huge difference but it is expensive.

You can follow the progress of the task force on the RSPB website.

Saint Maur International School has a stamp collection box situated in front of the Gr.10 classroom in the location of the general ‘information’ section. When removing stamps from envelopes/parcels, please cut around the stamp leaving a reasonable margin.

Thank you for your support of this worthy cause.
